SABAH TOWARDS BECOMING A SMART GREEN STATE – Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa Haji Aman, the Chief Minister of Sabah

The subject of sustainability is always present in our conscience, whether as a social or business trend or code of practices that surrounds our society not only in the international but local level too.

To find out more, IEM Sabah Chapter consulted with Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa Haji Aman, the Chief Minister of Sabah, head of public departments, reputable industry leaders in Sabah and is proud to report that Sabah has indeed laid the foundations towards becoming a ‘SMART GREEN STATE’.

On the environment pillar, Sabah has set aside 26% of its landmass as total protected areas; more than double the requirement by International Union of Conservation of Nature (IUCN) of only 10%. Sabah has also restored and planted forests well over 700,000 hectares, presumably the largest such undertaking in the tropics.
